About Buffalo
The Buffalo-Niagara region is a major metropolitan area with a diverse blend of communities, each with its own distinct character. We are known for our welcoming nature and our spirited loyalty. With the sunniest and driest summers of any major Northeast city, plan to spend your free time exploring our great outdoors!
Things to Do
In a city as diverse as Buffalo, you can always find something interesting to do, whether it’s strolling through one of our glorious Olmsted-designed parks, learning about the history of the Buffalo/Niagara region at our internationally-recognized museums, or taking in a thought-provoking work of art at dozens of art galleries. There’s also plenty of great food, outdoor activities, and nightlife to enjoy.
Niagara Falls
The grandeur of Niagara Falls can be experienced on both sides of the border. Several attractions, including the Maid of the Mist boat ride, allow visitors to get up close and personal to the Falls—not to mention a little damp—while taking in its roaring glory.
Getting Around
Frederick Law Olmsted, the father of American landscape architecture, called Buffalo “the best planned city, as to its streets, public places, and grounds, in the United States, if not the world.”
Buffalo’s Metro Bus provides quick, economical service throughout the city and suburbs.
The Metro Rail line connects UB’s South Campus with downtown Buffalo, including UB’s Downtown Campus, and the neighborhoods in between. Rides above ground are free in downtown Buffalo.
